The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher and her felon spouse. Garfield portrays the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye set about monetising the nation's religious faith. It's a riot of poor styling, overdone appearance and bad faith, though the lead actress manages to present Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
